Rock Climbing Evidence, Exhibit B

While I was pregnant my friend Lisa, mother to twins (bless all moms of multiples!), said that she was amazed and vindicated to see her boys twisting and turning in the real world just as they had in utero.  During my pregnancy I always complained that Oliver was practicing rock climbing moves on the right side of my rib cage, curling his toes in between my ribs.  When he was born, his big (but exceedingly cute) tootsies were my first piece of evidence.

While I’m sure what Oliver was really doing wasn’t exactly like this, here’s an illustration of what I was feeling.  I present exhibit B:

Check out his toes!

My mom knows someone who did her PhD dissertation on how fetal movements correspond to newborn sleeping positions. The theory was spot on with me and my sister! She said I was the Vitruvian Man as a fetus, which could be said of me even today. Great to see another example in the field, but ouch, your poor ribs! xx

Hey there! We miss you! My ribs are glad to have a break, but it was totally worth it though. It’s just nice to be able to have a visual to share. How’s life across the pond?

Couldn’t be better!! I miss you all as well. I am about to submit my dissertation, so I feel like I have mental space to be out in the world again… I have even knit something for the first time in a year! Life is good. J and I were going to talk on the phone soon, perhaps we could make it a video chat instead and I could talk to both of you and meet Oliver virtually! xx
