40 Weeks
Today is the official due date. Let’s see what happens…
Update at 10:00 pm – as of right now nothing to report.
We’ll see what tomorrow brings.
No Bump Today
39 weeks and 5 days…
Today’s visit to the midwives revealed that Bump is pretty happy where he is right now. Sigh.* I was hoping to hear that there was a little more progress at this point. With that in mind Jeremy and I ventured over to Somerville for a little Tu Y Yo spiciness (I recommend the Chile Relleno de Cameron) to see if that might encourage him to come out. Then I followed that up with some of the new coconut based non-dairy “ice cream” from JP Licks. Pineapple-coconut tastiness… mmm.
We’ll see where that gets us. If nothing else, it got me a tasty dinner!
PS – *Despite being quite unmotivated to leave his cozy abode, Leila feels Bump is approaching 7.5 pounds right now (eek!) and seems to be doing well. That is good news and we aren’t complaining. We are just anxious to meet him face to face!
Who’s in and who’s out?
Here’s the predictions from the window outside of my classroom.
Out of the game: Harry, David, Olivia & Kenton (Kristin’s kids), Lisandro, Rosalia, Buddy & Karen, Laurette, Lori, Cynthia…
We’ll see about Leon, Roz and Margelis today!
UCHC Shower
I wasn’t present for this one, but the staff at the Neag Cancer Center decided that Ellen (my mom) needed a shower too!
How awesome are our coworkers?
Bump Room Update
Here are a couple of the latest shots from Bump’s room.
As you can see, I finally finished the chalkboard! There is another panel below with a little bit of “wet nose art” by Calle. I’ll put up that picture later.
I still owe many photos and posts about the wonderful things the staff at HMS did for our growing family. But here is a little show of some the ways we are keeping them all in our thoughts as we wait for our new arrival!
Mathematical odds
Do the odds of labor increase with the inconvenience factor? Jeremy and Brian are renting a van to move furniture down to Norton today. Ideally we would like him to complete this task before the arrival of the baby. Murphy’s law says that labor will start at the most inconvenient time, so that would put him mid-move somewhere.
Is there a formula for this type of math?
Fellow math teachers?
Steve L? Gary H?
Anyone… ?
3:37 Update: Jeremy suggested that I include a shot of Calle helping him pick up the aforementioned moving van. She’s quite the copilot and apparently was able to back into the driveway without hitting the fence post. Great job Calle!
Dinner out
We went out to dinner tonight at our favorite local haunt, Vee Vee. After a tasty dinner and a delicious dessert Jeremy decided to take the route home that was the bumpiest to see if he could “get things moving.” It worked for Liz, my sister, but we’ll have to see if it works for all Pisces babies. Whether or not this turns out to be a successful tactic, it was a a wonderful night out and probably our last dinner date before Bump’s arrival.
Pregnancy stereotypes – again
1. Tired.
2. Cranky.
3. Ready to cry at the drop of a hat.
Then again, at this stage I feel my mood is like the weather in New England… if you don’t like it, wait a minute.
Update: 1:15pm
A cup of tomato, bacon, cheddar soup from New England Soup Factory has made a HUGE difference. If you are ever in need of homemade chicken noodle (or matzo ball) soup as a pick me up, you should check them out!
Waiting…
This afternoon we met a second pediatrician and may have found our match. It’s been great to have a pre-screened list from Ron to get us started on our search and I’m glad we were able to do this before Bump arrived.
In my mind for the last month or so I had envisioned us getting stuck in snow on the way to the hospital. Irrational? Perhaps. But then it would seem fitting that after a winter of no snow, the one time we wouldn’t want snow it would come. However, it seems as though we have made it through this snow without the arrival of a baby. I must admit, I was kind of hoping for a delivery in the next day or so. Between our colds and everything that has happened in the last two weeks I am ready for a positive event! I can’t wait to meet him and knowing that it “soon” makes me feel like a little kid in the back of the car asking, “are we there yet?”
Are we there yet???
That said, I have to say the impending act of childbirth is starting to seem a little scary.
Wondering…
Considering I’m not able to sleep through the night it’s amazing how much I was able to sleep this morning. I wonder if it’s the baby or the cold.
In my sleepy state I’m wondering if Calle will know when I’m in labor before I do. Some dogs can sense seizures ahead of time, so why not labor? It’s not really something we can train her to do, but it would be awfully cool if she could tell me!
